What the treatment does and does not do
An applicator draws in the treatable tissue and cools it for a set time. The cooling is intended to damage fat cells in that zone, after which the body clears them gradually. The reaction and the visible effect differ per person and per zone.
- Intended for a local improvement of body contours.
- Not a treatment for overweight or obesity, and not intended for weight loss.
- Not a replacement for nutrition, exercise or medical care.
- A visible result cannot be promised beforehand.
Which areas can be treated?
Depending on the shape, the amount of tissue you can pinch, the skin condition and the available applicator: the lower or upper abdomen, the flanks, the upper or lower back, the upper arms, the inner or outer thighs, and under the chin only when the area is suitable and the right applicator can be placed safely. Not every area and not every fat bulge is suitable.
From intake to evaluation
- Intake and zone check: your goal and health are discussed and the zone is assessed.
- Plan and marking: the position and number of applicators are decided. One applicator counts as one zone.
- Cooling phase: after protecting the skin the applicators are placed. An appointment usually takes 45–60 minutes.
- Aftercare and evaluation: you receive practical aftercare information and agree when an assessment makes sense.
The body responds gradually, so a possible change in contour is not visible straight away. Sometimes more than one treatment is needed; even then a certain result cannot be promised. Weight gain can change the body contour again.

Who it may suit, and when extra assessment is needed
It can suit you if you want a local, pinchable fat bulge treated, your weight is fairly stable, you understand that results differ and develop gradually, and you are willing to discuss relevant medical information and medication. Online information cannot replace this personal assessment. During the intake Bellani also looks at reasons to postpone the treatment or not to carry it out; if you still have doubts after the intake, not treating is also a suitable outcome.

How many zones do I need?
That depends on the shape and size of the area. One applicator counts as one zone; during the intake it is assessed whether one or more applicators are suitable.
Is one treatment enough?
That differs per person, zone and goal. Sometimes more than one treatment is needed, and how much visible difference one session gives cannot be promised.
Does cryolipolysis hurt?
The suction and first cooling can feel unpleasant or painful. During and after the treatment sensitivity, tingling or numbness can occur.
What is PAH?
Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia: a rare complication in which the treated fat area becomes larger and firmer in the months after the treatment. Correction can require medical treatment or surgery.
